Mouse Hunt 3

2009 July 14

The “Great Tasmanian Mouse Hunt 2009” continues. The peanut butter worked well, but they licked it all off as my last Mouse Hunt post showed. I therefore needed something harder for them to remove from the trap.

I Googled “Best Mouse Trap Bait” & found discussions on this very topic on Yahoo Answers. Many people recommended peanut butter & someone mentioned my getting it licked off problem.

Another person recommended using crunchy peanut butter & wedging a piece of peanut under the bait holder prongy thingy. I already had crunchy peanut butter but the bits of peanuts were too small (Cheapskate peanut butter manufacturers).

However we just so happened to have a packet of unsalted peanuts in the pantry (unsalted would be healthier for them)

Mouse 1

Step 1: Insert half a peanut underneath the bait holding prongy thing

Note: I got too close with my phonecam & the next 2 photos came out blurry.

Double Note: I don’t have a double note, I just always wanted to do one just like Ross does

Mouse 2

Step 2: Smear with plenty of Super Duper Magic Mouse Attractant (Peanut butter)

Mouse 3

Step 3: Put them in the cupboards & wait…..

and wait…

and wait…

and wait…………

That’s good. Organic, fair-trade, low-fat killing compound. That’s really good.

LOL!!! Unsalted is better for them.

PUT SOME SPICY SNACKS AS BAIT.
DONE U GET RAT POISON THERE. IT HAS AN INVITING SMELL AND A FATAL KICK.

Hi Lviss, I thought of that but prefer traps because if Dixie finds a poisoned dead mouse she might eat it & I’d hate her to get poisoned too

Love coming by your posts, Tony…you (or Flat Tony or Dixie) always on these adventures !

Hey, that peanut butter looks to good to waste on those rats! Give them hot peppers! That will make them run away! Good Luck! :)

Our four dogs seemed to have made friends with the mice. One day with a cat in the house and the mice were gone.

Maybe you and Dixie already killed all of them. Or they have heard about Dixie’s sharp teeth and decided to head for safer homes.

LOL!! Did you hear it go “snap” in the night?

That looks like that should do the trick! Your not going to show us the dead mouse are you? Of course you are. Eeewww. I may scream like a girl. Funny I never really did that scream like a girl last summer a little chipmunk was running at me at a tourist spot I heard this loud girl scream I looked around and realized it was me. How embarrassing . The little guy was running right at me. It did stop dead in it’s tracks and ran away.

If you’d like I can loan you Maytag for a week and your mice problems will be solved.

Thanks for the offer, they have been dealt with now as a future post will show. The only worry is that Maytag may bring me home a poisonous snake….
